I've been suffering for the last six years with chronic pain barely able to get out of my bed or off the couch my body my choice
There is a very large stigma on pain regarding painkillers pain management you could say even if you mention that you have pain the doctors these days will automatically look at you differently almost as though you're seeking narcotics or are some kind of junkie just looking to get a prescription and get the hell out of the office.
Doctors and nurse practitioners need to make patients comfortable and confident when it comes to addressing pain with their doctors or nurse practitioners a lot of walking clinics in doctors offices have big signs that say we do not prescribe narcotics so if you are a patient who has been suffering for a long time from chronic pain and you're walking in the doctor's office hoping that you can potentially get some type of medication whether it be a narcotic or controlled substance or not you walk into that office seeing those big signs that say we do not prescribe narcotics or controlled substances automatically your first thought is oh my God I'm afraid to even talk to the doctor about what I'm going through it seems like doctors are prejudiced against pain when doctors should be thinking about helping to treat people and the pain that they are having and try and communicate with patients about the potential harm with taking controlled substances or narcotics as a matter of fact the harm when taking any type of medication.
The stigma against narcotics has to be completely removed if Canada is ever going to fight the war on drugs they have to legalize everything and by legalizing everything it now gives the government control of every narcotic known to man and allows them the opportunity to tax it sell it control it and completely weeds out the black market so if there are drug seekers out there and they are looking to get high sure they're going to be able to do that but they're going to have to purchase it from the government or a government portal I'm pretty sure you understand what I'm trying to get at yes I understand that there would be a lot more people dying due to overdosing and lack of education but that's where education can be implemented I believe that within a few generations of having everything legalized we would have the opportunity through that couple of generations to teach our children and our children's children and our children's children's children the education and the knowledge needed behind controlled substances narcotics let's just call them medications or drugs legal or not after those few generations of education yes there will still be people who want to abuse them there are people who abuse alcohol there are people who abuse cannabis you can't stop people from abusing things the best you can hope for is to try and help them understand why they're using and try and help them mentally to not want to continue to use I think that's the most important thing but you have to allow people access at the end of the day it's our lives we should be allowed to choose what we choose to put into our bodies we should be able to choose what type of pain treatment we choose to have in our lives if something happens to us from choosing to make the choice to take whatever medications we take we have to live with the consequences of that it's only fair if we choose to make a bad choice that we have to choose to live with the consequences of the bad choices we choose to make all I'm trying to say is we need to have the right to make choices not to have doctors to dictate what we are allowed and what we are not allowed.
I am copying pasting this comment in all astrix that I have the opportunity to as it is all that I have to say and all that I feel that is important to say you don't have to read it multiple times but I wish that you can at least read it once and please read it with an open mind and try and give some thought to the ability to allowing people to have the ability to make their own choices and loosened restrictions because there's people out there like myself and many many others that I know that suffer everyday and have absolutely no choice to talk to their doctors about it as their doctors are completely against narcotics and controlled substances and will not give them these doctors believe that exercise is the only route some people can't even get up and get out of bed to begin to exercise how are you going to get them exercising when they can't even get up or get out of bed obviously you need to give them a little bit of something to give them that little bit of relief to be able to get out and do a little and hopefully little by little they can start to feel a little bit better and they can start to become a little bit better the solution is not to ignore the patient or to deny the patient and see them in 3 to 6 months that's negligence and it should be considered criminal negligence and doctors and nurse practitioners and everyone should be held accountable for the negligence of all the patients who are suffering with pain such as myself and many others and one day we as the people might bring a class-action to all of the doctors and the Ontario college of physicians and surgeons of Ontario for denying us our right to take medication as we choose or feel fit for our personal life we do not live in a dictatorship country so what we put in our body should not be dictated what we are allowed to put in our bodies should not be dictated by doctors they should be allowed to give their opinions but not dictate what we are allowed and not allowed to have medically especially if we have the money and the ability to afford to pay for it
