A deliberating and lonely road ....

Living in pain is a very deliberating condition. I not only struggle with daily activities but I also unable to participate in social activities. I am now receiving long term disability, but when I used to work, my employer refused to accommodate my condition and I could not even get a decent chair even though I spent long hours in the office, typing and all while in pain. I find employers can get away with so much because there is no recognition of the need to accommodate someone in pain. I learned to be silenced and accept my situation as I noticed the lack of understanding, the judgment all around me. I learned to live in pain alone. I have endless nights unable to sleep and during the day, I am unable to do certain things that some time ago I enjoyed very much.

Pain debilitate one’s emotional and psychological ability to cope with life and depression is the one certainty if there is no support. I see people rolling their eyes and in a very disrespectful manner react to one’s ability to lift something or participate in a mild activity. It is a very lonely condition because no one can measure pain only the one living with it.

I thank you for the interest in knowing some of the struggles. I think this is a very good initiative. This is the first time, someone dare to ask what pain means and allow me to share. I would like to share much more but I am unable to sit for long.
