It’s not fake
I have had fibromyalgia since I was 18, I am now 43. At that age it was extremely hard to function. The depression was overwhelming as the condition was relatively new. Fast forward to about 6 years ago. Have had numerous physical issues but the back pain was horrific and the right leg was atrophying. My family physician, whom diagnosed me was becoming tired and complacent. After years of him blaming it on fibromyalgia, it turned out I had protruding discs in my back that I had to have emergency surgery for, now have permanent nerve damage, degenerative discs and arthritis. On top of the fibro. I feel my doctor felt I was faking it. Or he was tired of hearing of fibro. Just my opinion but now live with the consequences of not being taken seriously because of a conditions that is not researched enough or properly supported as other illnesses are. I have no choice to work full-time due to finances and due to fibro not being recognized as a disability. Additionally I am unable to get support financially for my back either from the government. I was refused sick benefits from the government immediately following my surgery and had to go back to work which set my recovery back.
